About the Role

The Interledger Foundation seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to join our welcoming and inclusive team. In this position, you will lead a team of Developer Advocates, Technical Writers, and Community Managers. Together, you will spread the word about our open-source technology and assist corporate or governmental integrators with adoption.

We seek a mission-oriented, open, and collaborative candidate who cares deeply about driving the adoption of our open-source payment technology. The Engineering Manager position is ideal for an experienced candidate with expertise in payment systems technology combined with leadership / management skills.

As Our Engineering Manager You Will

  • Facilitate planning—the prioritization and delegation of work for the team;
  • Hire, mentor, and coach team members, helping them grow both technically and professionally;
  • Lead the development of our browser extension;
  • Lead the team in educating and inspiring every contributor and integrator within our community and beyond;
  • Participate in designing software specifications and web standards;
  • Build new relationships with contributors and integrators during hands-on sessions or speaking engagements;
  • Plan and facilitate community events like hackathons or conference presences.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has great communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an open-source working environment;
  • Has spent at least 2 years in a Management or Leadership role;
  • Has spent the past 6 years in a Software Developer, Developer Advocacy, Community Management, Technical Writing, or similar role;
  • Is part of an established developer community;
  • Has experience speaking publicly to technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and local language.

Nice To Have

  • Experience working with or developing payment systems
  • MBA degree or certificate with focus on strategic management

Location

The Interledger Foundation is based in the United States and has a fully remote staff. This position can be based almost anywhere in the world, excluding countries on the US Sanctions list. Compensation may be affected by international hiring costs in specific locations.
